Probably in order to give every speaker time to slag off Donald Trump .What a toxic mob . It seems expressing their hatred for Trump was more important than declaring their love for Aretha .

Spokeswoman

It used to be "spokesman" then it became "spokesperson" but given I haven't heard a man in this role for yonks perhaps it should just be "spokeswoman" now.
